But, I'm Not an Instructional Designer
Creating Actionable & Memorable Learning Events in Less Than a Day
Gives you the necessary resources and templates to create effective training without having a training background. Ideally, to create effective learning events you should partner with an instructional designer (ID) or curriculum designer. They partner and work as a team. IDs are in short supply within many organizations. For this reason, I created this toolkit to assist you with creating actionable and memorable learning events when IDs, like me, are not available.
Of course, this toolkit will not give you all of the steps in the instructional design model (ISD). For that to occur, you will need an ID to assist with your learning event or take required training to become an ID. IDs are experts in their field. They have requisite expert knowledge and skills to design and develop learning events and programs, just like doctors have medical degrees.
You may not be a doctor, but you can still cure some ailments with home remedies even without having a medical degree. There are still treatments that the average person can perform such as treat the symptoms of a cold. We call this a “home remedy”. The same concept applies to SMEs creating effective training when a SME is not available.
Consider this toolkit as a “home remedy” for creating effective learning events. Using this toolkit will equip you with the basics to create effective events. Enjoy designing and developing your learning event!
